What links gardening and saving?

There are many parallels between tending to your garden and looking after your money. Below, you'll find articles, quizzes and more to help you understand why your gardening knowledge could make your a great saver too. We also asked 2,000 UK adults for their opinions on the link between gardening and saving. Here's what we found...

Research is critical

71% of the UK adults we surveyed said it’s important to carry out research before making garden or savings decisions. Just as you plan your planting for the year, you need to choose the right savings account for your goals before you start planting the seeds of your future wealth!

Unfortunately, not everyone does their homework - 1 in 4 over 55s admitted they never research ways to manage their savings.

Consistency is key

UK adults spend 17 hours in the garden each month, but most of that time isn’t spent on the glamourous work of planting beautiful flowers - it’s spent weeding and keeping borders neat. The same mentality applies to saving, where keeping an eye on interest rates and reviewing which products you use to save can help grow your wealth more effectively.

Good gardeners and good savers share the same traits

According to UK adults, the top three traits required from a good gardener and a good saver are a calm head, adaptability and open-mindedness. If you can create and tend a beautiful garden, you probably have what it takes to manage your savings effectively too.
